In view of the 18th General Elections to the House of People, 2024 (Parliamentary Elections, 2024) scheduled to be held on 19th, 26th April, 2024, 7th, 13th, 20th, 25th May, 2024 and 1st June, 2024
Governor is pleased to declare 17th April, 2024 (Wednesday) as Public Holiday on the occasion of Ram Navami under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
Governor is pleased to declare that ‘Prakash Purab’ of Guru Gobind Singh Ji will be observed as Sectional Holiday for the employees belonging to Sikh community.
Governor is pleased to declare the following days as Public Holidays under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
LIST OF HOLIDAYS FOR FREE PRIMARY/ JUNIOR BASIC SCHOOLS OF WEST BENGAL FOR THE YEAR 2024 (1st January – 31st December, 2024)
The State Government has decided to observe Parshwanath’s Rathajatra which also falls on the 27th November 2023.
Governor is also pleased to notify that the offices under the Government of West Bengal with the exception of the offices of the Registrar of Assurances, Kolkata and Collector of the Stamp Revenue, Kolkata shall be closed on the days as specified.
Governor has been pleased to declare State Government Holiday on the 25th September, 2023 (Monday) for the State Government Offices, Local Bodies, Statutory Bodies, Boards, Corporations, Undertakings etc.
Every year 1st July is celebrated as Doctors’ Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Ex-Chief Minister of West Bengal and a half day holiday for the offices under the State Government is notified.
All State Government offices shall be closed at 2:00 PM on the 25th May, 2023 (Thursday) on the occasion of JAMAI SHASTHI.
