Sub: Minutes of the meeting held on 24.08.2016 in the Conference Hall (8th floor) of Nabanna in connection with the lift installation in Government buildings to minimize the time for execution of lift installation.

Minutes of the meeting held on 24.8.2016 in the Conference Hall (8th Floor) of Nabanna in connection with the lift installation in Government buildings to minimize the time for execution of lift installation
An emergent meeting was held at Nabanna, Conference Hall (8th Floor) at 3 PM to take immediate steps in connection with the lift installation work to minimize the time for execution of lift installation.
The meeting was presided by the Principal Secretary, PWD and it was attended by the E-in-C, PWD; CE, South Zone, PWD; CE, West Zone, PWD; CE, North Zone, PWD; CE(EL)-I/II, PWD; CE, Planning, PWD; CGA, Govt of West Bengal; and the representatives of OTIS Elevator Company (India) Ltd.; Shindler (India) Pvt. Ltd.; and KONE Elevator (India) Pvt. Ltd.
After discussion of all the issues relating to lift installation in Govt. buildings, hospitals etc. the following decisions were taken:-
- NIT of lifts to be sent by mail to the lift companies.
- Lift shaft dimension with drawing have to be a part of the NIT at the time of purchasing of the tender, demand draft have to be accepted.
- All lift shaft must be RCC of 150 mm thick and after finishing RCC lift shaft accuracy of the finished shaft may be achieved as per the drawing and no plastering is required in case of RCC lift shaft. Only the front wall will be made of brick.
- Lift shaft dimension will have to be fixed according to the NBC (National Building Code).
- Tender of the lift may be invited before the completion of the lift shaft but machine room will have to be completed in all respect at the time of GAD (General Arrangement Drawing) approval.
- After tender processing, award of the contract is a must before machine room casting for providing the holes, trapdoors in the machine room by the contractor as these items are specific to manufacturers.
- For the hospital lifts 15/16 or 20 or 26 passenger lifts is the better option for erecting the lift. These capacities are common for OTIS, Shindler and Kone.
- For the office buildings minimum 15/16 passenger lift in duplex mode is to be done for future projects.
- MRL (Machine Room Less) lift is to be done in a building under construction for lower floors having provision for higher number of floor in future.
- ACE(El), (H/Q) will act as a coordinator for all zones, for any problem/bottleneck during installation of lift whether it may be an electrical or civil related issue. So any problem of lift installation work, may brought to the notice of ACE (El.)/H.Q without any delay.
- However all out efforts of Architecture, Civil, Electrical wings is required to finish the lift installation works early.
