I am an A.T. in a govt.sponsored school in West Bengal. My spouse’s place of service is Haryana. He works in a private sector company & is enjoying quarters (accommodation) facility. According to his company rules, no employee will get H.R.A. whether or not he is enjoying the accommodation facility. In this case, is the H.R.A. ceiling applicable for me?

NO. You will get HRA according ( G.O. No. 217 (4)- Edn( B) dt. 13-07-84) and G.O. No. 5839-F (P) dt. 09-07-12

Iam an A.T. in a govt.sponsored school in West Bengal. My spouse works in a private sector company and draw H.R.A. In this case, as per Govt. order I refunded my H.R.A. which was overdrwan . I refunded exactly the overdrwan amount of H.R.A. But should i also refund the interest on that amount ? if yes then what would be the rate of interest? (I refunded my h.r.a which was drwan by me from july 12 to nov 13. After nov13 I stop to draw h.r.a. I refunded the amount on nov 14) please give me a answer that will it creat any issue at the time of retirement?

No, you need not pay interest on the refunded amount.

Thank you for answering my query. I’ll be glad if you can answer my colleague’s concern too as she is not a member of this site. Her spouse works in a private company that is located in Bangalore and he is entitled to company accommodation facility. In this case, will she get HRA or not?

Yes, she is entitled to get full HRA.

Hi,my husband is an assistant professor of a college in Berhampore,Murshidabad and he is enjoying a quarter for working as a hostel superintendent and for this he is not availing his h.r.a. I am an assistant teacher of a school in Sodepur and live in my husband’s house in Dunlop. The distance between Berhampore and Kolkata is 186 km.My question is
1. Can I draw my full h.r.a?
2. If not,what is the rule for reduction of my h.r.a?
3. Can anyone upload the corresponding G.O.regarding to this matter?
4. I was drawing my full h.r.a. untill now.What will be the procedure of returning the overdrawn amount?
