Conducting Cataract Surgeries free of cost for the patients is a mandate of the NPCB, whether it is conducted in Govt. hospital or in the hospitals of partner NGOs.

Conducting Cataract Surgeries free of cost for the patients is a mandate of the National Programme of Control of Blindness (NPCB), whether it is conducted in Govt. hospital or in the hospitals of partner NGOs.
Available eye care Services & Operations under NPCB are listed below:-
I. Cataract surgery with IOL including Phaco Emulsification with foldable lens
II. Diabetic Retinopathy
III. Childhood Blindness
IV. Keratoplasty
V. Vetreoretinal Surgery
In the Hospitals under the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal it is directed not to incur expenditures for the above operations in any heads/ programmes other than NPCB. The hospitals are not to book those expenditures from RSBY Scheme.
The partner NGOs of NPCB should not book cost of Eye surgeries against both NPCB and RSBY simultaneously .
