MEMORANDUM
Sub: Compulsory recording of GIS-subscriptions in the Service Book of the State Government Employees.
The undersigned is directed to say that though the amounts of GIS-subscriptions of the State Govt. Employees are to be compulsorily recorded in their Service Books as per provisions laid down in GISS, 1983 & GISS, 1987, it is learnt from different corners of the State Govt. Offices that provisions in this matter are not being properly followed and records of GIS- subscriptions are not being kept on many occasions, which is causing great problems during the time of final payment.
Moreover, it has been recently found out that the Savings Fund under GISS, 1983 is running with a negative balance. An enquiry reveals that negligence in keeping records of GIS-subscriptions is one of the reasons behind the negative balance.
All the heads of the offices under the State Government are, therefore, requested to be alert and to take necessary steps immediately so that GIS-subscriptions of the State Govt Employees are properly recorded in their Service Books and these records are verified positively by the respective Accounts Officers/Drawing & Disbursing Officers from time to time.
