The Committee shall meet at least twice in a calendar year to review the implementation of the provision of the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
The powers and functions of the Commission have been vested as per the provisions of the West Bengal Commission for Backward Classes Act,1993. The Act has been in the process of amendment from time to time.
The beneficiaries of this scheme are the students of whose parents are flayers, tanners, scavengers, waste picking/ collecting or engaged in similar other profession.
The reservation norms shall apply on and from the Academic Session 2014-15 to all Universities, Government colleges, colleges and other institutions receiving aid from the State Government.
WHEREAS by Backward Classes Welfare department’s Notification No. 1673-BCW dated 11.05.2012, the Backward classes were specified and categorized in the list below.
Ambedkar Centre for Excellence to disseminate the benefits to the SC, ST and OBC Communities at the State level unit at Kolkata, West Bengal.
A certificate is to be issued by all the Head of the Institutions, that all the eligible SC/ST students of classes V to VIII of his/her school for the year 2014-15 are not left out in Awardee-list.
Last date for issuance of OBC certificates has been extended to 31st December, 2013. Fresh certificates on surrender of the original certificates by the holders or old certificates may be revalidated mentioning Category-A or Category-B.
