Development Board is an organization or authority established to plan, manage, and promote economic, social, or infrastructural growth in a specific region or sector.
The aims and objects of the Board shall be to preserve, promote and safeguard the language, traditional folk art, folk music, folk dances and folk culture of the Newar community.
The aims and objects of the Board shall be to undertake all necessary activities for the protection, promotion and safeguarding of the Lepcha language, tradition and culture; to undertake activities to protect historical and culturally significant landmarks of the community;

The ‘Tamang Development and Cultural Board’ was constituted vide resolution No. 33-TDD/6S-80/13(Pt.-l) dated the 27th June, 2014 duly published in the Kolkata Gazette on 16th July, 2014.
Head Office of ‘Tamang Development and Cultural Board’ is in the District of Darjeeling, West Bengal, under the administrative control of the Tribal Development Department, Government of West Bengal.
