West Bengal Government Notification related to Government Holidays, Public Holidays, Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act (N.I. Act) etc.
Summer vacation has been rescheduled and will start from 2nd May, 2014 and will end on 31st May, 2014 because of prevailing heat wave across the State.
In cancellation of the earlier notification, all Government, Government sponsored and Non-Government aided and unaided schools will reopen on 27th October, 2014 after Puja holidays as per holiday list of W.B.B.S.E.
Governor is pleased to declare 6th October, 2016, Thursday as a Holiday on account of Durgapuja (Panchami) under the N.I. Act, 1881.
All offices of the Government of West Bengal shall be closed in the 2nd half of 7th February, 2022 (Monday) as a mark of respect to the departed icon of India, Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.
Governor has been pleased to declare that the Offices under the Government of West Bengal will be closed at 02.00 PM on Monday, the 1st July, 2024 (Monday) on account of the Birth Day of Late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Ex-Chief Minister of West Bengal.
Governor is pleased to declare 24th September, 2015 as a Sectional Holiday on account of KARAM PUJA for the employees belonging to Tribal Communities in different offices of West Bengal.
In order to enable the employees to observe the auspicious occasion and to pay obeisance to the Lord while at home, it has been decided that all Offices shall remain closed on 23rd June 2020.
Due to heat wave and prevailing situation summer vacation shall begin in all schools on and from 20.04.2021 until further order.
Every year 1st July is celebrated as Doctors’ Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Ex-Chief Minister of West Bengal and a half day holiday for the offices under the State Government is notified.
You are requested to pass necessary instructions so that schools will re-open after Puja holidays on 27th October, 2014. The matter has been discussed with Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge.
