The Minority Act ensures the protection of rights for religious and linguistic minorities in India, allowing them to establish and manage institutions for cultural, educational, and religious purposes under Article 30 of the Constitution.
An Act to constitute a Minorities’ Commission to study and suggest additional social, economic, educational and cultural requirements of religious and linguistic minorities of West Bengal with a view to equipping them to preserve secular traditions of West Bengal and to promote national integration.
‘Minorities’ means the minorities based on religion such as Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parses), Jains, Jews and such other minorities.
