Ration card holders who failed to collect their weekly/fortnightly quota will be allowed to lift their lapsed quota during eight weeks following the week when his/her entitlement becomes due.

Ration Cards are distributed by the Food and Supplies Department, Government of West Bengal.
Computerization of Ration Card in West Bengal has been started and will be continued upto 09th February, 2014. All concerned are requested to contact to respective ration shop at the earliest.
Scheduled time for capturing ration card data at Fair Price Shop level has been extended for the 11 districts viz. Kolkata, North 24 Parganas (excepting municipal areas), Howrah, Hooghly, Purba Medinipur, Purulia, Birbhum, Bankura, Burdwan, Dakshin Dinajpur and Coochbehar.
Stipulated time limit for rendering the services, the Designated officers responsible for providing the services, the Appellate Officer and the Reviewing Officer in connection with Ration Card.
One major step to reform the prevailing TPDS system is to digitize the information of the Ration Card holders so that a complete Digitized Ration card database of the ration card holders may be constructed and made available online.
It has been decided to implement the process of digital ration card in West Bengal. From today i.e. 11th April, 2012 the making of 9 crore 20 lacs digital ration card will be started. It will cost approximately Rupees 291 crore.
