The Satyendra Puraskar is named after a prominent figure, Late Prof. Satyendra Nath Bose, the best popular Science Writer in Bengali. It is aimed at honoring individuals who have demonstrated exemplary work for the betterment of society or specific communities.

Governor was pleased to introduce with effect from 1993 an annual prize named Satyendra Puraskar to be awarded every year to an individual who is adjudged the best popular Science Writer in Bengali for the year.
