Appointed as D.O. (Election) at my School, should I sign on staff attendance register or not?

I got appointment letter from election cell as D.O. My question is should I sign in staff attendance register or should I write On Duty with Memo of appointment letter? Please suggest me what should I do. I also asked same question about it to Joint B.D.O.(Our training instructor) and also SI of School, but I don’t received any satisfactory answer.

The particular days, when you exercise the duty, you will take the certificates from your appointment authority Joint B.D.O.(Our training instructor) , and such certificates submit to your HM. Then he will allow the days as ON DUTY.
