    Your previous post: https://wbxpress.com/topic/who-is-a-group-a-officer/
In the year 1978, the classification of Govt. employees as Gazetted, Non-Gazetted etc. was abolished and Grouping was introduced instead. Assistant Engineers onwards were Gazetted Officers but Sub-Assistant Engineers were not. Now at present in many cases attestation is asked from authority specifically mentioned. However, if asked from 1st Class Gazetted officer, then it should not be attested by the Sub-Assistant Engineers. I don’t say that they can not attest; definitely they can attest being a Group – A Officer; but in this case as they are not so-called Gazetted Officers, they can not attest.
