B.Ed (Special education)

please let me know why you have chosen B. Ed. (special education) (under RCI). Is it equivalent to B. Ed. (NCTE), if yes let know the source.

@digitaldoc and all others friends: I have chosen B.Ed (special Education) for more than one reasons.
1. I wanted to do B.Ed.
2. I have attended for the Entrance Exam of IGNOU (recognized by NCTE) but the result is yet to be published and I may not be on the merit list.
3. B.Ed (Special Education) has been approved by West Bengal SSC as well as Central Teachers’ Eligibility Test. And also considered in NCTE notification dated 23th August, 2010 (which is very important for up-gradation of Teachers’ qualification). I am attaching the notification ncte_notice_23082010.pdf
4. I have as many as 4 special children at my school and I feel helpless before them so this course may help me to communicate with them. So even if I don’t get any better chance it might be helpful in my teaching.
5. I have chosen MR (Mental Retardation) as my area of specialization to understand and teach not only the mentally retarded students but also students with learning disability (about which we have hardly any idea and leave them on the last bench and promote them to the next class with the help of ‘no detention’ policy.
6. I have undergone one year PTTI course and has all the chances that I will go through the Bridge course and thus I have some idea about normal teaching course but I don’t have any idea about special education.
I had heard about the course earlier and when I saw the advertisement I gave my best effort to attend the entrance conducted by NSOU. The merit list is prepared in the following process:
1. Entrance test marks (total- 100)

50%
2. Graduation

30%
3. Post-Graduation

10 marks
4. ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING

10 marks (maximum)
a. Parent of child with disability
b. Candidate with disability
c. Posses RCI registration Certificate.
The entrance test is of 100 marks MCQ type from the following fields
a. G.K. & Teaching aptitude

b. Logical & analytical reasoning

25
c. Educational, General and Disability related awareness—-50
SOME MORE RELATED INFORMATION:
1. No need of Experience (unlike IGNOU)
2. Medium Bengali
3. 2 yrs course
4. 1 yr B.Ed (special Education) is also taught in regular mode under Barasat State University and may be from other universities in Bengal also.

Sorry for answering late. I think the D.I. is right. It is still not clear if B.Ed. (by NCTE) and B.Ed. (Special Education) (by RCI)are equivalent. And if a deputed teacher can be allowed to join the course. State Govt has sought for the views of NCTE in this regard. Till date no reply received.

My Date of Appointment is 11/10/2007.I am in my sixth year of service and I have not yet done B.Ed. This year I have cleared the entrance exam for B.Ed from IGNOU. As this is a correspondence course due to which the classes of my school will not be hampered and I will not be granted leave as is granted in deputation, does the signing of the 3 years bond apply to me too?

The State Govt. has taken initiative to introduce B.Ed. course in ODL mode at 11 State Universities to benefit about 30 thousand teachers from next academic session. The total expenses to be borne by the Govt. A Core Committee is going to be formed for the purpose, being headed by Mr. Vivek Kumar, the Principal Secretary, Higher Education.
