Hi friends I want to know whether one can take more than 5 days of casual leave before or after a long vacation like puja or christmas holidays.
Is there any GO other than No. 453-SE(Pry) dated 04-05-1999 ?

No. Casual leave can not be clubbed with other kind of leave. An employee can not absent himself more than 7 days continuously including Govt. holidays with taking Casual Leave.
The G.O. no you mentioned is the new leave rule of Primary Teachers repealing the old leave rule (G.O. No. 768-Edn (P) dated 22.11.1991).

Thanks nemo for replying. Could u just clarify this situation as… if a person takes CL on and from Monday and continues till Saturday that means he is absent from work for six working days. Will six day of CL be deducted from his account or 8 CL (two Sundays included)?…Oh God I m getting confused.

Actually as per leave rule one can not take CL continuously for more than 7 days including Govt. holidays. Now, Sunday is a Govt. holiday; so, when someone want CL from Monday to Saturday, the total absence from duty becomes 8 days which is not permissible as per leave rules. So, leave for 5 days (i.e. Mon – Sat) should not be granted by the leave sanctioning authority. The total period of absence i.e. 8 days may be covered with any other kind of leave e.g. Medical leave.

Correct me if I am wrong…as per my understanding If some one takes casual leave from Monday onward then he/she has to come back to work
on Saturday (total leave count will be Sun-friday i.e 6 days) right.

Total leave count will be 5 days from Monday to Friday. Sunday will be prefixed.

Thanks to both of you guys. One more clarification if the CL starts from Thursday and continues till Tuesday that means total of 5 working days and one Sunday.
Is it legal to take CL in this way?

Absolutely legal. And in this way only 5 days CL will be deducted; not 6 days.
