As per Election Commission Memo No.464/INST/2010/EPS, Dated: 28th July, 2010 (http://eci.nic.in/eci_main/CurrentElections/ECI_Instructions/ins_280710.pdf), schools/ colleges/ Educational Institutions can be ‘requisitioned’ for election purpose. Now, let us discuss whether the schools actually go on ‘holidays’, or they remain ‘on duty’ on election days, or as long as they are ‘requisitioned’ by the Election Commission of India.
I myself believe that the school remain ‘on duty’ as ‘requisition’ does not imply ‘inoperative’ or ‘non-functional’. Further, as per Oxford Dictionary ‘Requisition’ means A formal written demand that something should be performed or put into operation: ‘requisitions for an Extraordinary General Meeting must state the business to be transacted’ and according to Advanced English Dictionary ‘Requisition’ is ‘the act of requiring; an authoritative request or demand, especially by a military or public authority that takes something over (usually temporarily) for military or public use’.

    ……. may be right.

If so, what will be the leaves (say, two or three days at a stretch) availed by a certain teacher just following the election days (say, the requisition was for more than seven days)?

Dear, the date of election of our area (south 24 pgs) is fallen on 30th April. A letter is received for requisition from 20 th April from local P.S.. If the school is transfered to the army then the school will be closed till to the end of the election. Therefore, for the booth school is requeired 29,30 and may be on 1st May ( if re-poll occured). So I think there is no need to know about those days regars as either ‘holidays’ or ‘on duty’.:confused:.
