Govt. Employee Vs. Govt. Servant

I have seen that the Govt. of WB has replaced the term “Govt. Servant” by “Govt. Employee” in Gazette Notification of amendments of certain rules. But, the Central Govt. still retains the use of the phrase “Govt. Servant”.
What is the difference between the terms “Govt. Employee” and “Govt. Servant”? Members Pls help!ডঃ মজুমদার,
এ দুটির ভিতর অর্থের কোন ইতর বিশেষ তফাৎ নেই। আমারা যেমন বাড়ির কাজের লোককে আজকাল “সাহায্যকারী” / “সহায়ক” বলি সেইরকম আরকি। সরকার আজকাল আমাদের “চাকর” বলছে না “কর্মচারী” বলছে। এতে আমাদের সম্মানের কোন উন্নতি যেমন হয় নি তেমনই আয় উন্নতির ও কোনরকম পরিবর্তন ঘটেনি।

Actually, the term “Govt. Servant” has been replaced by “Govt. Employee” in WB (CCA) Rules,1971 vide Gazette Notification No. 1440 dated 22 Feb.2008 in relation to amendment of the rules.বন্ধুগন,

এপ্রসঙ্গে পুরানো কথা মনে পড়ে গেল। আগেকার দিনে দাগী আসামী বলতে বোঝাত যাদের দেহের ত্বকে তাদের অপরাধ এর কথা গরম লোহার শলাকা দিয়ে দাগীয়ে দেওয়া রয়েছে। তাই বলছি ডঃ মজুমদার আমার মত আমার মত দাগী আসামীকে জানতে চাইছেন “WhayWhy are you always so rebellious?”
প্রশাসনের ধরানো চার্জশিটে আমার বিরুদ্ধে ১ টি চার্জ ছিল “rebellion activity” যার ভিত্তিতে সমষ্টিগতভাবে আরও ১০ টি চার্জ এর সাথে আমার শাস্তি নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে – “৩ টি increment stop”। তাহলে কি আমি দাগী হলাম না? তাহলে যেখানে দাগী আসামীর কাছ থেকে সমাজ ভালো কাজ এই যুগেও আশা করে না সেখানে আমার ক্ষেত্রে আমিও যে প্রশাসনের প্রতি তৈলমর্দনরুপী বানী প্রদান করব তা কি ভাবে আপনারা আশা করেন
@ডঃ মজুমদার এর পোষ্ট এর জবাবে জানাই আপনি আমার ঠোঁটকাটা লেখাটাতে কোন সরকারী বিঞ্জপ্তির কথা উল্লেখ ছিলনা সুধু satire ছিল আর আপনারটাতে সরকারী বিঞ্জপ্তির কথা উল্লেখ করা। যার মাধ্যমে কিন্তু আপনি আমার বক্তব্য টা ভুল তা প্রমান করতে পারেননি।Dear 10Moyda,
I am afraid that I have unwillingly hurt you who is being pinched all the time by a scathing memory….and goes abegging healing touch! Actually I have seen irony in some of your recent posts! I have failed to smell the essence of your satiristic views which are nothing but mere venting of your wrath! But, I am not in a position to accept the possible clarification given by you in a light manner because it has been amended by Gazette Notification.
Now, in a democratic system, “employer-employee” relation is treated as “master-servant” relation! It’s not clear to me the necessity of use of the term “Employee” in place of “Servant”. What is the significance of such change, especially when the term “Servant” is still in use in Central Govt. Services! It must have some inner meaning otherwise why such amendment has been done in WB (CCA) Rules by Gazette Notification!Dr Majumder,

আসলে এ সবই আমাদের সবার প্রিয় বামফ্রন্ট সরকারের অবদান। আসলে ঔপন্যবেসিক স্ম্রাজ্যবাদী প্রভুদের ভাষার বদলে শ্রমিক কৃষক এর ভাষা আমদানি করতে এই পরিবর্তনগুলি করা হয়েছিল অন্য কোন কিছুর জন্য নয়। কেন্দ্রে তো কোনদিন বাম সরকার ছিল না আর হবার কোন আশাও নেই, তাই আমরা “Govt. Employee” আর আপনারা “Govt. Servant”।Gravity of an intelligent issue has been barely diluted, crying for justice from right thinking & knowledgeable govt. employees, if available in this forum! Members pls come out if you have concrete idea about the difference between the terms “Govt. Employee” and “Govt. Servant”! I am interested to know the difference.
As far as my knowledge goes, it was a political decision to change the British terminology like Jail–> Correctional Home and Government Servant –> Government Employee. I am not creating this forum light in nature. I have full respect to this forum and to the members of it.

I don’t think so. Every members should have such freedom of speech. Possibly I am having different opinion with Moderator along with few other well wishers of this forum.
I am agree with memo. I dont like to interfare with the human rights.
