Dr Majumder,

Dear friends,
As far as I know that the old concept of a Jail was to keep a convict at bay from civil society in order to protect the sanctity & interest of society from his perilous presence which would have an adverse effect on others. He is basically legally ostrasized. Now, the concept has been changed, making room for a new one which construes this confinement as a fruitful method of reform of character – metamorphosis from a notorious rogue to the great Valmiki.
Look at Nigel Akara who does not deny his past. He said “I was bad. I did all the wrong things perhaps because of a burning greed inside me. I lusted for money and would do anything to get it. I led a gang – Vicky’s gang. It is quite natural that I would land up in jail. But I thank god that jail happened, otherwise I would have never come back to life,“
Watch “M U K T A D H A R A”.
That’s how a Jail has become a Correctional Home. The term “Jail” was a misnomer. A journey from Jail to Correctional Home NOW certainly implies a REFORMAL PROCESS that takes place unnoticed behind the bar!
As far as I know, our state is the Pathfinder of this reformal process, receiving respectful attention from other states!
With regards.
Re: Journey from Jail to Correctional Home – Debut of a Valm
I had watched “Valmiki Protiva” at Rabindra Sadan duing Rabindra Janma Sardha Shatoborsho. It was a brilliant performance by the inmates of Correctional Home at Kolkata under the guidance of famous “Alokananda”.

@nemo
Yes, I agree – that’s Valmiki Prativa! Do you agree to my clarifications on transformation from Jail to Correctional Home!
