Hello friends! I am an ASST.TEACHER of Commerce (M.COM, B.ED) on a permanent post. I want to do M.ED through distance (without hampering my usual school duty). For this how i should proceed? To whom i need to apply/inform? Only informing H.M will sufficient? or i have to take the permission from D.I , PLEASE GUIDE
Thanking you all in anticipation.January 24, 2013 at 4:59 pm #76531AnonymousInactiveAs per recent CSC advt. M.Ed. (and not M.A. in Education) is essential for teaching in B.Ed. colleges. As far as my knowledge goes M.Ed. of 1 year course in distance mode is studied at IGNOU. Since the degree is not pertinent to teaching in schools so prior permission from M.C. is sufficient to pursue the course. D.I. is not involved in the matter of permission as (i) it is not related to the appointment in schools, and (ii) there should not be any claim of financial benefits on acquisition of M.Ed. degree.

March 4, 2013 at 2:30 pm #77173AnonymousInactiveI need to know whether any kind of leave would be granted to the teacher willing to study M.Ed?
March 4, 2013 at 2:37 pm #77175AnonymousInactiveNothing mention in manual regarding M.Ed, but I’ll searching further more.
March 5, 2013 at 4:03 am #77191AnonymousInactiveIs admission in IGNOU for b.ed. degree through distance education mode requires DI permission or permission from M.C. is enough?
March 5, 2013 at 7:43 pm #77198AnonymousInactive@tanmoy: DI permission is necessary if a teacher wants/expects incremental benefit. Other wise(if no economical matter is involved) Mc permission may be enough.
ThanksMarch 6, 2013 at 4:12 am #77200AnonymousInactive@b_roy: Thanks for clarifying. Our DI, HM & MC, all has their own opinions. They make us so confused!!
March 8, 2013 at 11:29 am #77234AnonymousInactiveI think permission of D.I. for B.Ed. course through ODL mode is necessary as it is related to increment of a teacher. However, it can be easily obtained as B.Ed. degree is mandatory for a secondary teacher under RTE Act.
March 10, 2013 at 4:32 pm #77299AnonymousInactiveYes, permission is necessary from the DI in order to pursue B.Ed from IGNOU or from any other university through ODL mode. This is as much for service benefits as it is for getting necessary leave for exams as well as attending workshops. However, the DI can only issue the necessary permission. The leave taken will have to be sanctioned by the concerned secondary board and a resolution taken to that effect. The Secretary of the concerned board will have to sign the format for leave availed during the course.
As far as M.Ed is concerned, no permission from the DI is necessary for this. A simple NOC from the MC is enough as M.Ed does not have any service benefits for a school teacher. However, in this case no official leave can be availed by a candidate. The leave for exam workshops etc, will be directly deducted from the leave(CL, ML etc) available to him. The MC shall sanction this. -
