Is Paribesh (Environmental science) of class VI, VII & VIII be regarded as Main Subject ?

The answer is in itself by its number of classes in a week. Only one class for EVS. (not ENVS, ENVS means ” Environment Studies” for H.S. and it may be taken by the students as one of the compulsory elective subjects from 2013-14.) allotted for class VI,VII and VIII.
Now dear, only one class in a week for EVS how you would be regard it as a main subject ?
