Nomination is must for death gratuity .
    * FAMILY means- a) Wife (when Husband incumbent),b) Husband (when Wife incumbent),c) son and step-son,d) unmarried, widow and step-daughter,e)adopted son/daughter,f)brother,unmarried or widow sister -below 18 years.g)father and h) mother.
There is a point to remember that the incumbent may nominate one or more than one . If there is none, then he may nominate anyone from out of the family. But when he/she will get married then the previous nomination will be cancelled. The incumbent may change his/her nomination as many times as wish.
But if there is no nomination then the amount of gratuity shall be divided among the members of the family (*)in equal distribution. In this case/matter should submit (i) the attested photos of the members and (ii) the certificate from Panchyet /Commissioner /Councilor to prove, they are the legal members of the family (*).
    Thank you, Happy New Year.

Death Gratuity of an employee, having no nomination or family members, shall be payable to the person (s) in whose favour a “Succession Certificate” has been granted by the Court of Law. (Ref: G.O. 13248-F dated 04.12.89)
