I have heard that the UGC approved Universities are also eligible to confer valid degrees and diplomas but, they do not get fund from UGC like recognized Universities! EIILM University of Sikkim describes itself as “Approved & Recognised by UGC”. But, it’s a Pvt. University which receives no fund from UGC! Then, how is the term “Recognised” relevant to it?

Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test.
