The then Social welfare Department of the Union Government issued a DO letter In February, 1976, to all Ministries and Departments requesting them to give serious consideration to the question of posting husband and wife at the same station.
After that Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India passed an Office Memorandum in connection with “Posting of husband and wife at the same station” on 03-04-1986 vide No. 28034/7/86-Estt. (A)
Again in 12-06-1997 vide No. 28034/2/97-Estt. (A) Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India issued a details guidelines regarding the “Posting of husband & wife at the same station”.
Again in 30-09-2009 vide No. 28034/9/2009-Estt.(A) another Office Memorandum has been issued by Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions regarding the matter.
The guidelines of the Union Government followed by several State Government but its hard to find any order or guidelines regarding the same except that of Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal.
