I am sorry again to show my courage here to start this Topic so that the teachers who have to attend schools without student, may get some stuff to work with!
Please share ideas among your colleagues to find an Activity over the following issues and post here summary of such discussion!
1) How we all the teachers be able to give a concept on Map among student of class say 4/5 !
What is a map!
Why do we use map!
By the activity based learning what you have to innovate, your student will understand above subject without listening a single word from you on the issues.
Lets see how many a teacher participate in this topic which is not related to their Service Matter! Eagerly waiting to read your views! (i do not know whether the administrator of this site will scold me for posting this topic in irrelevant forum as it would come under “Off Topic Discussion”)
N.B. Activity Based Learning is a method where students take part in some actions and through the action they would achieve the objective (learning outcome) of some learning topic!June 9, 2012 at 6:39 am #72814AnonymousInactiveRe: Some stuff for teachers what they may do without student
The text book is not the only source of knowledge. Teachers may find out other possible sources of knowledge. They may jointly innovate some ideas for Activity Based Learning (ABL) which must be a joyful learning.
1. Preparing for a “Show”. Any educational documentary may be very much helpful to the students.
I have forgotten all those readings during my school days. But never forget the scenes from the first voyage to the Moon.
2. Involving students and organizing different puppet show.
3. Playing educational games.

Thanks to our friend Biku, its indeed a very important topic and we all should participate to share our thought.
I think during these days a workshop may be called for to determined “how to motivate the students“
Infact, there are many ways to motivate students and each student is different and requires different type of motivations. The following ideas on this issue may be considered.
1. Visual learning: It’s always helpful to motivate the students. The matter they learn through this process remains in the memory for a long long time.
2. Explain with examples: An explanation without examples is just like bread with butter. Examples make the students more interested over the subject.
3. Let the students participate on discussions and debates: Let the students put their lecture over a subject already discussed or pre-determined. Let them debate on some controversial matter too. This will definitely motivate their learning.
4. Some classes of Yoga: In my opinion, there should be one class of Yoga everyday in the beginning session. This will increase the mental and physical power of the students. Sharp memory is inevitable for good learning.
5. Some classes of Drawing/Painting: We can’t ignore the requirement of skill of painting in learning. It always increases the quality of output.
6.Reward for good scoring and improvement: Its not always require to provide some valuable reward but a little reward should motivate the students. The reward may be as little as a remark of “Good” on their exercise book. Some special reward may be helpful for the mentally weaker students.
I am letting it off now with expectation to have more ideas from our friendsJune 10, 2012 at 12:18 pm #72829AnonymousInactiveRe: Some stuff for teachers what they may do without student
Building up the conception of map can be started with guiding them to draw the things in different corner of he class room and then asking them to make a drawing of their school and its surroundings. They can be asked using concrete pictures of constructions and things at the beginning then to include the the nature (e.g. pond, tree, river etc). At this stage they will be made aware of directions, symbols, colors and finally of length. And after that, sketch map of their village can be shown if available.(The experience of Mapping at the time of last census by many pry. teachers may be useful to the teacher). And then their attention may be drawn to the map they are learning /they have learnt in geography.
Friends I’ve not tried this. Actually I have planned it when I was thinking of the matter (thanks to BIKU). So I’ll like to get your opinion before I actually practice it at classroom to make it more effective.
Thanks in advance…June 10, 2012 at 1:28 pm #72830AnonymousInactiveRe: Some stuff for teachers what they may do without student
@ b_roy: I liked the idea very much. That would be really a nice initiative. -
