West Bengal Ordinance No. I of 2017
THE WEST BENGAL UNIVERSITIES (CONTROL OF EXPENDITURE) (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE, 2017.
Whereas it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Universities (Control of Expenditure) Act, 1976, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing;
And Whereas the Legislative Assembly of the State of West Bengal is not in session and the Governor is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary for him to take immediate action;
The Governor is pleased, in exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of article 213 of the Constitution of India, to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:-
1. Short title and commencement.
(1) This Ordinance may be called the West Bengal Universities (Control of Expenditure) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2017.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Substitution of new section for section 4 of West Ben. Act XVII of 1976.
For section 4 of the West Bengal Universities (Control of Expenditure) Act, 1976, the following section shall be substituted:-
“4. Retirement of teachers
Every full-time regular teacher, Principal and such other regular employees, who are in receipt of the State Government’s notified scale of pay and holding a substantive post in any State-aided University or Government-aided college shall retire from service on attaining such age as may be determined and notified in the Official Gazette by the State Government, from time to time.”
