Amar Dhan Amar Chatal Scheme
The Government of West Bengal has launched a new agricultural scheme named “Amar Dhan, Amar Chatal” (My Paddy, My Yard) to help farmers improve post-harvest processing and storage of paddy. The initiative aims to reduce grain loss caused by moisture and inadequate drying facilities before milling.
Under this scheme, eligible farmers can receive:
- ₹10,000 for constructing a farm-level paddy processing yard for sun drying,
- ₹8,000 for purchasing a manually operated grain dryer, and/or
- ₹5,000 for building an improved low-cost paddy or grain storage structure.
The scheme will be implemented across all districts of the State, ensuring that farmers from every region can benefit. As part of the project, the government will also provide paddy drying machines, imported from Germany, each costing around ₹10,000, to protect harvested paddy from damage before being sent to rice mills.
This initiative is another step by the State Government to strengthen post-harvest infrastructure and improve the income and resilience of paddy-growing farmers.
