……………………..
Sir,
This refers to the advisory issued by this Department vide No. 222-Edn(U)/1U-71/12 dated 18.02.2013 to keep all processes related to the elections to the Students’ Unions in the Universities and Colleges in abeyance for the time being in view of the examination season in the State.
In the meanwhile, references have been received from some College authorities as to the fate of Students’ Unions whose terms have expired or are about to expire in the near future. They have wanted to know what arrangement is to be resorted to in respect of the Students’ Unions already in place (and whose terms have expired/are near expiry) until fresh elections are held again.
It is hereby clarified that to deal with such situations, the University and College authorities may take recourse to the provisions of their existing Statutes, Rules and Regulations relating to the conduct of election to the Students’ Unions, and adopt appropriate arrangements.
Yours faithfully,
Sd/- Additional Secretary
