NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the power conferred by the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is pleased hereby to make, with immediate effect, the following amendment in the West Bengal Services (Compulsory Requirement of Knowledge in Bengali for Recruitment to any post or Service) Rules, 2002, issued with this Department notification No. 10725-F, dated the 13th November, 2002 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules):-

Amendment

In the said rules, in rule 2, for the proviso, substitute the following proviso:-

“Provided that the said compulsory requirement of knowledge in Bengali including the ability to read, write and speak in Bengali, for recruitment to any post or Service under the State Government, shall not be applicable to those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali.”.
