MEMORANDUM
Proposal for creation of some additional posts of Joint Secretary in Pay Level 21 for West Bengal Secretariat Service was under consideration of the Government for quite sometime past.
2. Now, after careful consideration, the undersigned is directed to say that the Governor has been pleased to create 20% i.e. 06 (six) additional posts of Joint Secretary in Pay Level 21 for West Bengal Secretariat Service under the existing Recruitment Rules for filling up of the posts. Thereby, enhanced strength of the post of Joint Secretary in Pay Level 21 in West Bengal Secretariat Service shall be 36.
3. However, the overall sanctioned cadre strength of West Bengal Secretariat Service shall remain unchanged and the Cadre Controlling Authority concerned will make necessary adjustments in cadre schedule.
4. This is issued with the concurrence of Finance Department Group P2 vide their U.O. No. Group P2/2025-2026/1208 Dated 16/02/2026.
5. The State Cabinet has approved the above decisions in its meeting held on 17/02/2026 and communicated vide No. CAB(D)-1470 dated 18-02-2026.
6. Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department shall issue detailed order immediately for effective implementation of the decision mentioned above.
