Disaster Management
Reducing disaster risks and preparing for and responding to disasters and threats of disasters in order to save lives and property, avoid disruption of economic activity and damage to environment and to ensure the continuity and sustainability of development.
People lost at sea or river who have to be presumed dead due to sinking/capsize of boats/other vessels, where the bodies have not been recovered and chances of recovery of body within the State are remote due to accident in high seas or in inter-state/ international rivers.
The aim of the West Bengal State Disaster Management Policy is to establish necessary systems, structures, programs, resources, capabilities and guiding principles for reducing disaster risks and preparing for and responding to disasters and threats of disasters.
