The functions of the Finance Department are performed through 5 (five) branches, namely, Audit, Budget, Revenue, Internal Audit and Institutional Finance.
State Government is currently required to incur heavy unforeseen expenditure to combat the situation arisen due to such pandemic outbreak. The 21 days lockdown which is currently in force throughout India, has severely affected the economy of the Country and the State.
State Government has decided to allow acceptance of the following categories of bills by Treasuries/ PAOs in anticipation of allotment of fund both in the remaining part of current Financial Year 19-20 (till 31.03.2020) and in the next Financial Year 20-21.
Works/ Schemes/ Projects/ Procurements, which have been split to avoid the approval of the appropriate authorities and/or laid down tender norms, no payment should be released before the examination of the same by the Finance Department.
To ensure better compliance of the guidelines, publication of brief referral advertisements in respect of all e-tenders to be floated by the State Government offices shall be done centrally by the concerned Administrative Departments.
Governor is pleased to introduce a facility in AAFS Module of IFMS for according Advance Administrative Approval, so that departments may accord Advance Administrative Approval in this Financial Year, of a project to be taken up in Next Financial Year.
Introduction of Revised Modalities of Sanction and disbursement of Revised Pension/ Family Pension/ Gratuity/ Commuted Value of Pension of Post- 01.01.2016 Pensioners.

During the period from 01.10.2019 to 31.12.2019, accumulation at the credit of the subscribers to General Provident Fund and other similar funds under the administrative control of the Government of West Bengal shall carry interest at the rate of 7.9% (seven point nine percent) per annum.
State Government has decided to declare holiday on 29th January, 2020 (Wednesday) in connection with Saraswati Puja in addition to already declared 30th and 31st January, 2020, for all State Government offices.
Governor is pleased to allow pay fixation of State Government employees due to ROPA, 2019 through HRMS module of iFMS for those employees having a valid HRMS ID and who will be in service as on 01.01.2020.
