Transport Department operates from the State Administrative Buildings, i.e. Writers’ Buildings. The Kolkata RTO office is known as Public Vehicles Department.
Categories of transport vehicles which are not fitted with speed governor, shall be equipped or fitted by the operator of such vehicle with speed governor (speed limiting device).
All metered taxis plying in KMA shall undertake the process of calibration so that the actual fare is computed, displayed and printed receipts are handed over to the passenger positively within 30.06.2014.

District of Jalpaiguri has been bifurcated into two districts – Jalpaiguri district and Alipurduar district. Hence, existing Motor Vehicles Office at Alipurduar be upgraded and brought under full control and supervision of District Magistrate, Alipurduar.
