District Inspectors of Schools (Primary Education) and (Secondary Education) are appointed as grievance redressal authority to dispose of the complaints on violations of various provisions of RTE Act in respect of Primary Education (i.e. from class – I to class – IV) and Upper Primary Level of education (class – V to class – VIII) respectively.GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL

NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the power conferred under Sub section (2) of Section-35 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (No. 39 of 2009) the Governor is pleased to appoint all District Inspectors of Schools (Primary Education) as grievance redressal authority to dispose of the complaints on violations of various provisions of the said Act in respect of Primary Education (i.e. from class – I to class – IV). Similarly District Inspectors of Schools (Secondary Education) are appointed as grievance redressal authority for disposal of the complaints relating to Upper Primary Level of education (class – V to class – VIII) as per provisions of the Act.
The aforesaid Officers shall act within the jurisdiction of their educational districts. They may cause enquiry, hear the complainants and the authorities against whom complaints have been lodged, and dispose of the petitions as per provisions of RTE Act, 2009 and WB RTE Rule, 2012. Complainants, if not satisfied with the order of the District Inspector of Schools, may appeal before the Chairperson, West Bengal Right to Education Protection Authority.
This order shall come into force with immediate effect.
