ORDER

Whereas the Caste Certificates to SC/ST/OBC Communities under the West Bengal Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes (Identification) Act, 1994, are presently issued with manual (physical) signature of the issuing authority i.e. by the Sub Divisional Officers in the Districts and by the District Welfare Officer, Backward Classes Welfare, Kolkata in the District of Kolkata.

Whereas under Ease of Doing Business and Business Action Reform Plan of Government of West Bengal mandated for digitization of the issuance of Caste Certificate through e-signature of issuing authority as per provisions of Section-2(1)(p) of IT Act, 2000, the Governor is pleased to introduce digitally signed Caste certificate in respect of issuing authorities in Bidhannagar Sub-division under North 24 District, Sadar Sub-division under South 24 District, Sadar Sub-division under Howrah District and the Kolkata District. In other Sub-divisions of the State of West Bengal, this facility will be introduced in due course.

This order will come into effect from 29.09.2022.
