State List of OBC to Avail 7% Reservation in West Bengal

There is no Act regulating identification of persons belonging to Other Backward Classes. Guidelines for issuance of Other Backward Classes Certificates were issued earlier.

Updated Guidelines for Issuance of SC/ ST Certificates
Caste Identification Certificate issued to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe person is popularly called as Caste Certificate. A format of Caste Certificate is appended to these guidelines.

Percentage of Reservation for OBCs in West Bengal
Governor is pleased hereby to increase the percentage of reservation for Other Backward Classes in West Bengal to 17% providing 10% reservation for Category-A and 7% for Category-B respectively.

Introduction of Digitally Signed Cast Certificates in West Bengal
Governor is pleased to introduce digitally signed Caste certificate in respect of issuing authorities i.e. by the Sub Divisional Officers in the Districts and by the District Welfare Officer, Backward Classes Welfare, Kolkata.

Issue of Fresh OBC Certificates on surrender of Old Original
Issuing authority may issue fresh OBC certificates on surrender of the Original by the holders of Old Certificates for revalidation mentioning Category-A or Category-B till 31st December, 2014.
