Governor is pleased to introduce digitally signed Caste Certificates through e-signature in respect of issuing authorities in rest of the Sub-divisions of West Bengal.

Whereas the Caste Certificates to SC/ST/OBC Communities under the West Bengal Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes (Identification) Act, 1994, are presently issued with manual (physical) signature of the issuing authority i.e. by the concerned Sub Divisional Officers in the Districts;
Whereas under Ease of Doing Business and Business Action Reforms Plan of Government of West Bengal mandated for digitization of the issuance of Caste Certificate through e-signature of issuing authority as per provisions of Section 2(1)(p) of IT Act, 2000, it was decided to introduce digitally signed Caste Certificates;
Whereas in terms of Order No. BCW-22099/6/2022-SECTION(BCW)-Dept. of BCW/497349 dated 29.09.2022 digitally signed Caste Certificates were introduced in respect of issuing authorities in Bidhannagar Sub-division under North 24 Parganas District, Sadar Sub-division under South 24 Parganas District, Sadar Sub-Division under Howrah District and the Kolkata District with effect from 29.09.2022;
Now, the Governor is pleased to introduce digitally signed Caste Certificates through e-signature in respect of issuing authorities in rest of the Sub-divisions of West Bengal.
This order will take immediate effect.
