Subject: Lighting arrangement on Roads & Bridges constructed by P.W. (Roads) Department.

Proposal for installation of lighting arrangement and illumination on bridges built up by P.W. (Roads) Department often comes from different local bodies such as Zilla Parishad, Panchayet Samity, Municipality etc. This Department has no specific guidelines in this regard. To avoid future complication particularly in case of maintenance of the lighting arrangement & payment of electricity bills, it has been felt necessary to frame a guidelines for the same.

In view of above the undersigned is directed to state that lighting arrangement on the roads & bridges under P.W. (Roads) Department may be taken up by this Department as one-time installation work on condition that the concerned local body (Municipality/ Zilla Parishad, Panchayet Samity etc.) should give a prior undertaking to the effect that they would take full responsibility for the maintenance & energy consumption costs. The concerned local body shall also install the electricity consumption meter at its own initiative and its name.
