ORDER

Consequent upon revision of pay scale under the provision of W.B.S. (ROPA) Rules, 1998, through Notification No. 7306-F, dated 16.10.98 all kinds of special pay have been abolished. It was however said in the proviso below Rule 4 (2) of the aforesaid Rules that where a post and its promotion post carry the same revised scale of pay, the Government may, having regard to the recruitment rule for the promotion post, distinguish it from its feeder post in such manner as may be deemed necessary.

2) After careful consideration of the matter with reference to the recruitment rules of the post and also recommendations submitted by the 4th Pay Commission in Part-II of Vol.-1 of its Report, the Governor has been pleased-to order in respect of the following post the revised scale under W.B.S.(ROPA) Rules, 1998, shall be as mentioned in the schedule below in practical modification of Notification No. 7306-F, dated 16.10.98.

SCHEDULE

3) The revised scale shall take effect from 1.1.96 notionally and actual effect will be given from 1.4.97 and the arrears shall be paid to the employee subject to the conditions laid down in Rule 10 of the W.B.S. (ROPA) Rules, 1998.

4) The employees holding the post in the revised scale of pay as laid down in the Schedule shall exercise option within 90 days from the date of issue of the order.

5) The rules of initial fixation of pay in the revised scale prescribed in the W.B.S. (ROPA) Rules, 1998 and all other conditions laid down therein shall apply mutatis-mutandis.

6) This has the concurrence of Finance Department vide their U.O. No. 1636 Gr. P(Pay) dated 21.11.2000.
