Holiday List for West Bengal Govt. Employees, 2020

Birthday of Netaji – 23rd January, Thursday; Saraswati Puja (Shree Panchami) – 30th January, Thursday; Doljatra – 9th March, Monday; Good Friday – 10th April, Friday; Bengali New Year’s Day/ Birthday of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar – 14th April, Tuesday;

General Holiday on account of Chhat Puja, 2019

CHHAT PUJA will be celebrated this year (2019) on 2nd November and 3rd November, which fall on Saturday and Sunday respectively. In view of this 4th November (Monday), 2019 is declared as a General Holiday in West Bengal.

Half Holiday on account of Viswakarma Puja, 2019

On occasion of VISWAKARMA PUJA which falls on 18th September (Wednesday), 2019, the Governor has been pleased to declare that all State Government offices shall be closed at 2:00 P.M on that day.

Sectional Holiday on account of Karam Puja, 2019

Governor is pleased to declare 9th September (Monday), 2019 as a Sectional Holiday on occasion of KARAM PUJA for the employees belonging to Tribal Communities.

Holiday on Birth Day of Late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, 2019

Offices under the Government of West Bengal will be closed at 2 P.M. on Monday, the 1st day of July, 2019 on account of the Birth Day of Late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Ex-Chief Minister of West Bengal.

Opening of School after Summer Vacation, 2019

Considering the changed weather conditions, it has been decided that all schools will remain closed upto 08.06.2019 and will open on 10.06.2019. Similar action is recommended for all un-aided schools also.

Suspension of Classes in Madrasah due to Cyclonic Storm

All Govt. and Non-Govt. aided-Madrasahs located in Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly and Kolkata shall remain closed on 3rd May and 4th May, 2019.

Public holiday on Poll Days of Parliamentary Election, 2019

In view of the Parliamentary Election-2019 to be held on 11th, 18th, 23rd & 29th April, 2019 and 6th, 12th & 19th May, 2019 in the respective Parliamentary Constituency/ Assembly Constituency, the Government has declared the said days as public holidays.

Half day Holiday to mourn Nirupam Sen’s Death

All Offices shall be closed at 4 PM today i.e. 24th December, 2018 to enable everyone to pay homage and respect to the former Minister, Government of West Bengal, Late Shri Nirupam Sen.

Uniform list of maximum number of holidays to be observed in the academic session-2019 (01 January, 2019 to 31 December, 2019). The maximum numbers of holidays for this academic session will be 65 days.
