A pond is a small, shallow body of water, typically smaller than a lake, that can be naturally occurring or man-made. It is often home to aquatic plants, fish, and other wildlife. Ponds are commonly used for recreational activities, irrigation, or as a habitat for local ecosystems.
A price preference may be extended to the Primary Fishermen/ women Cooperative Societies (PFCSs), Fish Producers Groups (FPGs), Self Help Groups (SHGs), registered fishing persons and some other such groups.
(i) ‘Pukur’ and ‘Pukur Paar’ should be distinct separate plots of land since the period of Revisional Settlement. (ii) Minimum 15 feet should be left unaltered from the edge of the water-body for allowing any conversion.
District Magistrate has decided to bring convergence in the MNERGA programme in rural area with preparation of vegetable garden and pond in School /Madrasah and fishery in ponds.
