The potato is a starchy tuber from the plant Solanum tuberosum, widely grown for food. It is rich in carbohydrates, particularly starch, and provides essential vitamins like vitamin C and B6. Potatoes are versatile in cooking, used in dishes like fries, mashed potatoes, and stews.

Reservation of Cold Storage Space for Potato

Each farmer-hirer would be allowed to store up to the limit of 25 quintal only on his/ her account. The reserved space shall be allotted to the farmer-hirers on the first come first served basis.

West Bengal Potato Procurement Scheme, 2019

Governor is pleased to announce a market intervention scheme for direct procurement of potatoes from the farmers at a declared Minimum Procurement Price w.e.f. 01.03.2019 for the Potato Loading Season 2019.
