NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (i) of sub-section (1) of section 67 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Act 59 of 1988) and in supersession of all previous notifications issued by the Transport Department in this regard, the Governor, having regard to clauses (a) to (d) of section 67 of the said Act, is pleased hereby to issue the following directions to the Regional Transport Authorities of Kolkata and all other regions;
DIRECTIONS:
The existing fares of Meter Taxi (Contract Carriage) shall be fixed as per Schedule given below. New fares shall take effect from 11.06.2018.
Secretaries of the Regional Transport Authorities of all regions including Kolkata region are hereby directed to issue appropriate orders to give effect to the new fares.
SCHEDULE
I. ORDINARY TAXI FARE
| Distance | New Fare (in Rs.) |
| Up to 2 km | 30.00 |
| For every additional 0.2 kms (200 m) | 3.00 |
| Luggage Charge | 5.00 |
N.B. Waiting charge for every 2 minutes 12 sec is fixed as Rs. 2.00
II. AIR-CONDITIONED METER TAXI
| For Air-conditioned Meter taxi the proposed rates will be additional 25% on all the rates proposed for Ordinary Meter Taxi |
Better passenger amenities and conditions of taxis like proper sitting space, cleanliness and safety of passengers afe preconditions for increased fares.
