Uniform for Nursing Personnels under Health Services

In partial modification of all previous orders in respect of the uniform prescribed for nursing personnel under the Directorate of Health Services, Govt. of West Bengal, the following specifications are prescribed as uniform for nursing personnel while on duty:

In partial modification of all previous orders in respect of the uniform prescribed for nursing personnel under the Directorate of Health Services, Govt. of West Bengal, the following specifications are prescribed as uniform for nursing personnel while on duty:

1. For staff nurse, Gr.II:-

  • White Saree with half sleeve-high neck white blouse/ white salwar kameez
  • Half sleeve white coat (Teri – cotton)
  • Epaulette/ Badge as existing on white coat
  • Black covered leather shoe,
  • Black full sleeve cardigan in winter
  • Clean & tidy ban with net
  • Small cap
  • No jewellery is allowed except small golden ear top.
  • Ritual bangles and nose pin for married nursing personnel is allowed
  • Uniform must be neat & tidy

2. For sister Gr.I(ii)/ Deputy Nursing Superintendent, Gr.I(i)b/ Nursing Superintendent, Gr.I(i)a

  • White Saree with half sleeve high neck white blouse/ white salwar kameez
  • Half sleeve white coat(teri-cotton)
  • Epaulette /Badge as existing on white coat
  • Black covered leather shoe ® White full sleeve cardigan in winter
  • Clean and tidy ban with net
  • Small cap
  • No jewellery is allowed except small golden ear top.
  • Ritual bangles and nose pin for married nursing personnel is allowed.
  • Uniform must be neat & tidy
  • Designation chest plate;
  • Nursing Superintendent – Golden.

3. For Sister tutor, Gr.I(ii)/Senior Sister Tutor, Gr.I(i)b:-

  1. White saree with half sleeve high neck white blouse/ white salwar kameez
  2. Half sleeve white coat (Teri-Cotton)
  3. Black leather covered shoe
  4. Full sleeve white cardigan in winter
  5. No jewellery is allowed except small golden ear top.
  6. Ritual bangles and nose pin for married nursing personnel is allowed.
  7. Uniform must be neat & tidy
  8. Designation Chest badge on white coat;
    for Sister Tutor – Black badge and writing in white and for
    Senior Sister Tutor – White badge and writing in Black.

All nursing personnel working in Public Health (West Bengal Nursing Service and Extra Cadre) will wear existing uniform along with a white half sleeve teri-cotton coat.

This will come into effect from the date of issue of this order.
Local authorities are requested to inform this among all the nursing personnel under his/ her control.
