MEMORANDUM
Whereas the State Government has been concerned with poor admission in Science streams in the Higher Secondary course being run by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education;
And whereas the State Government has been considering a proposal to allow maximum number of students an option to pursue Science course in Higher Secondary in the same institutions from where they have been pursuing and passed the Madhyamik (Secondary) Examination;
Now after careful consideration of the matter, the State Government in the School Education Department has decided that a student, who has secured at least 70% marks in the aggregate and 75% marks in Science subjects and Mathematics taken together in the Madhyamik Examination under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, will be entitled at his/her option to get admission in the Science Stream in Class-XI from the same institution from where he/she has completed and passed the Madhyamik (Secondary) course and examination provided the institution is a Higher Secondary School and that it has appeared Science stream at the Higher Secondary level.
This order takes immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education is requested to ensure compliance by all Higher Secondary schools affiliated to them.
