MEMORANDUM

Subject: Revised procedure for submission of Application for Commutation of Pension by the employees of three tier Panchayat Bodies

In terms of para 44 of the Death-cum-Retirement Benefit Scheme, 1985 circulated vide G.O. No. 30314/VIII/Panch/2P-04/85 dated 30/08/1985 of this Department, an application for commutation of pension shall be submitted directly by the employees after his retirement in Part-I of the prescribed proforma to the Pension Sanctioning Authority. If the said application is submitted within one year from the date of retirement, no medical examination of health is required and the commutation applied for may accordingly be granted if otherwise admissible.

Now, the State Government has introduced a revised procedure for online disposal of the pension cases of the employees of the three tier Panchayat Bodies through e-Pension Portal vide G.O. No. 3812/PN/O/I/2P-1/2017 dated 31/5/2019. In view of the above, it is felt that the procedure laid down in G.O. No. 30314/VIII/Panch/2P-04/85 dated 30/08/1985 requires modification.

After careful consideration of the matter, the Governor is pleased to order that an application for commutation of pension will be treated as valid for the purpose of commutation of pension without medical examination if the same is submitted by the employees of three tier Panchayat Bodies and accepted by the authority concerned at any time within the period of twelve months prior to the date of retirement of the employee. Such employee can also apply for commutation of pension without medical examination within twelve months after the date of retirement as usual in terms of Death-cum Retirement Benefit Scheme, 1985 circulated vide G.O. No. 30314/VIII/Panch/2P-04/85 dated 30/08/1985.

G.O. No. 30314/VIII/Panch/2P-04/85 dated 30/08/1985 stands modified to the extent prescribed in the order.

This Order shall take effect immediately.

This Order issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide U.O. No Group P2/2019-2020/0038 dated 10/05/2019.
