Backward Classes Welfare (Anagrasar Kalyan) Department works for social, economic and cultural development of the people belonging to SC, ST, OBC in West Bengal.
WHEREAS by Backward Classes Welfare department’s Notification No. 1673-BCW dated 11.05.2012, the Backward classes were specified and categorized in the list below.
The district authorities have been requested to adopt camp approach in all the schools, colleges and educational institutions for issuance of caste certificates so that no student is deprived of scholarship for want of caste certificate.
Revision of pay and allowances of the Officers & employees of West Bengal Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes Development and Finance Corporation under the Backward Classes Welfare Department.
Applicants for Other Backward Classes certificates who originally belonged to a State other than West Bengal but have been residing in West Bengal for long may be granted such certificates.
To enquire into complaints regarding contravention of the provisions of this Act, and to convey its findings to the concerned authorities with recommendations requiring further action.
