Food & Supplies Directorate is mainly responsible for availability and distribution of foodgrains and other essential commodities to the valid ration Card holders.

Applicants for Dealership must have a bank balance of Rs. 2.50 lakh in form of saving account, current account and/or fixed/ term/ flexi deposit as working capital as reflected on the day of application and 6 months preceding the date of application.
Scheduled time for capturing ration card data at Fair Price Shop level has been extended for the 11 districts viz. Kolkata, North 24 Parganas (excepting municipal areas), Howrah, Hooghly, Purba Medinipur, Purulia, Birbhum, Bankura, Burdwan, Dakshin Dinajpur and Coochbehar.
This Order extends to the whole of West Bengal except the areas where the West Bengal Urban Public Distribution System (Maintenance & Control) Order, 2013 is in force.
In case of lifting of food grains from a Fair Price Shop dealer, the ration card holder shall have the option to lift the allocated quota of foodgrains, a) for current week; or b) following weeks
Repeated complaints have been received by the State Govt. regarding the quality of Chattisgarh rice supplied by FCI for the Mid-Day-Meal (MDM) scheme.
SCF&S/ ROs will complete their work within 15.04.22 and the DCF&Ss/ DDRs will do theirs within 30.04.22. After completion of work at the field level, reconciliation of the data with live database will be taken up by the Reforms Cell.

Whereas the Governor is of opinion that it is necessary and expedient so to do for maintaining supplies and securing availability and distribution of essential commodities under the Public Distribution System;
Food & Supplies Department will provide rice (@ of 5 kg per month), wheat/atta (@ 2.5 Kg per month), musur dal (@ of 1 Kg per month) and Bengal gram (@ of 1 kg per month) free of cost to each such mother and child.
