Guidelines for Recruitment of House-Staff

ORDER
The Superintendents of the District Hospitals, Superintendents of such other hospitals and Principals of other Medical Teaching institutions, except Medical Colleges, having sanctioned posts of House-staff, are empowered to appoint stipendiary House-staff locally in the vacant posts, if any, after Central Counselling from the office of the undersigned, with tenure up to 31st March for MBBS and 31st October for B.D.S. degree holders.
Such local appointment of House-staff is to be made strictly as per the following guideline as enclosed.
This is to be treated as statutory order to be followed each year with its immediate effect until further orders.

Guidelines for recruitment of House-staff locally
1. A committee is to be formed for this purpose with the following health Officials.
(i) For Medical teaching Institutions other than Medical Colleges
(a) Principal
(b) MSVP
(c) Accounts Officer
(d) Head of the Departments of Concerned Discipline
(ii) For Other Hospitals including District Hospital
a) Superintendent
b) A representative from CMOH of the concerned district (in case of District Hospitals)
c) Specialist in Medicine
d) Specialist in surgery
e) Specialist in Dentistry
f) Accounts officer of the district or his representative.
2. Advertisement is to be displayed in the notice board of the officer of Superintendent, CMOH/ Principal.
3. Selection is to be made in the following process.
First preference is to be given to the candidates completing Internship in the current year of WBUHS, next preference to the candidates of immediate previous year, and so on. Then candidates from states outside West Bengal in the same way. Afterwards candidates passed from outside of India -at first Nepal and afterwards China, Russia etc.
4. Age not to exceed 35 years on 31st March of the concerned year.
5.(A) For MBBS Candidates this is to be followed:

5.(B) For BDS Candidates this is to be followed:

6. The selected list is to be placed before Director of Medical Education for approval by Special Messenger.
7. Initially no candidate will be allowed for 31st time or completed one year House-staffship if any fresh candidate is available.
8. Selection will be made in every year after completion of the process of Central Selection for fresh & supplementary batch.
9. Advertisement is not binding on the Government for appointing all the applicants for house-staffship.
10. This is to be followed till issuance of further orders from the office of the undersigned.
11. Other existing rules & regulations are to be followed in respect of house-staffship.
