Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, the High Madrasah, Alim and Fazil Examinations of the Board has been scheduled to be held in the month of June, 2021 in lieu of the month of February. Considering the above changes the list of holidays for the academic session 2021 needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Sub: Revised list of maximum number of holidays to be observed in the academic session-2021 (01 January, 2021 to 31 December, 2021)

Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, the High Madrasah, Alim and Fazil Examinations of the Board has been scheduled to be held in the month of June, 2021 in lieu of the month of February. Considering the above changes the list of holidays for the academic session 2021 needs to be adjusted accordingly.

In exercise of the power conferred by clause (e) of sub-section (2) of section 20 and as per decision of the meeting of the Board held on 17.11.2017 and as directed, the heads of all recognized Madrasah are being requested to follow the revised list of holidays – 2021 as per specimen list of holidays attached herewith. It is to be noted that the maximum numbers of holidays to be observed for this academic session will be limited to 65 days.

This order shall have to be strictly followed. In case, any festival is affected due to lunar cause, the holidays on account of the said festival would be so adjusted. Hence, the earlier circular(s) of this office regarding Holiday List – 2021 should be treated as cancelled.

Revised List of holidays to be observed in the recognized Madrasahs of the State in the year-2021

N.B.1. This holiday list shall be treated as model holiday List for the Academic Year-2021. The adjustment in Holiday(s) is permissible as per local need for festival and for any natural disaster subject to approval of the M.C./ Administrator as the case may be. The total number of Holidays in the Academic Year would be fixed at 65 days. The Madrasah authority is not allowed to exclude National and State holiday from the total number of holidays (i.e. 65 days).

2. The Madrasah authority is not allowed to increase or decrease the total no. of holidays in this academic year, which is fixed to 65 days without the written permission of the Board. Any excess holiday(s) beyond sixty five days in this academic year, enjoyed by the Madrasah will be treated as unauthorized leave.

3. For hilly areas of Darjeeling, the M/A may adjust the vacation as per local environment keeping total number of holidays fixed at 65 days.

4. Any festival affected due to lunar cause, the holiday on account of the said festival would be so adjusted following the declaration of the State Government in this regard.

5. The Madrasah authority shall make necessary arrangement to observe the following Days:

(i) Birthday of Netaji – Saturday, 23 January, 2021
(ii) Republic day – Tuesday, 26 January, 2021
(iii) Birthday of Rabindranath Tagore – Sunday, 09 May, 2021
(iv) Birthday of Kazi Nazrul Islam – Tuesday, 25 May, 2021
(iv ) Independence day – Sunday, 15 august, 2021
(v) Teacher’s day – Sunday, 05 september, 2021
(vi) Birthday of Begum Rokeya Shakhawat Hossain – Thursday, 09 December, 2021
(vii) Birthday of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (National Education Day) – Thursday, 11 November, 2021
(viii) Fateha Dwaz Daham – Tuesday, 19 October, 2021

6. The Birthday of poet Bhanu Bhakt (13.07.2021, Tuesday) will be observed as holiday for the Districts of Darjeeling & Kalimpong only.

7. The Board reserves the right to change the holiday list if required.
