The State Government for some time past has been considering the need for doing away with the prevailing exercise of mandatory registration at ‘K-2’ stage towards enabling all the girl-students enrolled in the regular courses of post-graduation to gain access to the financial assistance which, hitherto, had been provided to the Kanyashree girls (i.e., the girl-students having the allotted ‘K-2’ ID) only.
In continuation of this Department G.O. No: 08-EH/N/M&MS-06/2013(Pt.I) dated: 28-07-2017, the Governor has been pleased to extend the sub-scheme, viz., “K-3 component”, under Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme to all the girl students enrolled in post graduation courses [instead of the current dispensation of providing financial assistance to the Kanyashree girls (i.e., the girl-students having the allotted ‘K-2’ ID) only] in order to encourage and incentivize them in pursuing post graduate studies in regular courses.
All the girl-students enrolled in the regular courses of post-graduation, whether single or married, may apply for financial assistance for pursuing post graduate studies under “K-3 component” of the Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme, scoring at least 45% marks in Graduation and enrol themselves for Post Graduate courses in the State of West Bengal. Financial assistance @ Rs. 2000/- p.m. is given for pursuing post graduate studies in Arts and Commerce. Whereas, financial assistance @ Rs. 2500/- p.m. is given for pursuing post graduate studies in Science.
This order is issued with the concurrence of the Finance (Group-B) Department, vide U.O. No: Group B/2020-2021/0100 dated: 28-01-2021.
